We visually check the firebox, damper, smoke chamber and accessible portions of the flue. When safely accessible, we also note visible concerns at the cap, crown, masonry, flashing and roof transition.
We protect the fireplace area, contain debris, clean the work area and explain any visible concerns we find.
Wood fires leave soot and creosote deposits in the venting system. The amount of buildup varies with how the fireplace is used and how the fire burns. Debris can also collect in a chimney that has sat unused.
Sweeping addresses deposits. Smoke, odors and damage can have other causes, which is why it helps to tell us what you have noticed before the visit.

Keep the fireplace unused and cool before your appointment. Clear nearby decorations and furniture so our technician can reach the fireplace, and secure pets away from the work area.
From worn caps to damaged crowns and flashing, we can assess repair needs separately from your chimney sweep.
Chimneys should be inspected annually and cleaned when deposits or debris make cleaning necessary. How often you burn, the wood you use and the condition of the chimney all affect buildup.
Yes. Little use means less combustion residue, but it does not rule out debris, water damage or a blocked flue. An inspection is useful when the service history is unknown or the fireplace has been unused for a long time.
We protect the immediate fireplace area, contain the debris and clean the work area after sweeping. You can help by clearing furniture and decorations from around the fireplace before we arrive.
Buildup or a blockage can contribute to smoke problems, but the damper, airflow and chimney condition also matter. Tell us about smoke entering the room so the problem can be evaluated rather than assuming cleaning is the only answer.
No. Sweeping removes deposits; an inspection evaluates condition. The standard sweep includes a visual check of accessible chimney and fireplace components, not a Level 2 video inspection.
A standard residential chimney sweep typically takes 45 to 60 minutes depending on the chimney’s condition and accessibility.
Yes. Lioncrest also handles chimney mortar, masonry, cap, crown and flashing work, along with chimney rebuilding. We can explain the visible concern and the next step for a repair estimate.

Great experience with Lioncrest Roofing & Chimney! They did a fantastic job with our chimney sweep. Not only was the service thorough, but they also took the time to explain how our system works and clearly outlined a few items to keep an eye on for future maintenance. Highly recommend!

Lioncrest Roofing & Chimney swept the upstairs fireplace chimney home in Tualatin, OR. Aidan was quick to answer when I first reached out, and his pricing was clear before the visit. The crew showed up on time, kept things clean, and explained what they saw in the flue. Booking was easy, the communication was good, and the price was fair. I'd recommend them for chimney sweeps and inspections in Tualatin and the SW Portland area.
