How do I know whether I need new siding or just paint?
Paint changes the finish, but it does not restore softened, swollen or badly deteriorated siding. Repeated peeling, cracking or moisture problems are reasons to look at the condition of the siding and wall before choosing the next step.
Can I combine lap siding with panels or shingle-style accents?
Yes. The current James Hardie options include lap, panel and shingle-style profiles. We can discuss how the profiles and trim would work together on the exterior.
Does new siding fix water getting in around a window?
Replacing the siding surface alone does not identify the source of a leak. The opening, flashing and surrounding wall details need to be considered with the work so the proposed installation addresses the connection.
What happens if damage is found behind the old siding?
The condition and proposed change are documented and approved before additional work proceeds.
What affects siding replacement cost?
Wall area, height, access, removal, the siding product, trim, openings and finish choices all affect the scope. The condition of the wall beneath the siding also matters.
How do I choose the profile and color?
